THINGS AS THEY ARE

Things As They Are By Rosalinda Flores-Martinez What life have we got in 2013? What can we have in the 21st century? Weather and earth forecasts, predictions from psychics, statistics from historians, feasibility studies from scientists, economics from traders, lifestyles from tribes and communities, education from teachers, and false promises from a number of public and private servants, among others. No one is an exception. A better question must be: What have we got to serve each other? Each individual must contribute a solution to alleviate the earth's rigid changes. How can we make life easier for each other without adding stress to the weak flesh and community issues? Moreover, the government leaders and servants must give a lot, get rid of procrastination (red-tape) and corruption. Let us know the meaning of "noblesse oblige," that nobility obliges. This is the moral obligation of those with high birth or powerful position to act with honor, kindness and generosity. They are responsible to the jobs they've sworn as to the positions they hold. They are responsible to help the people solve issues and work on what the public needs. If they complain, they should leave their posts. They have to face the people in humility and be courageous enough to unite them, support them in their good goals, and not consent on unfair deals. Therefore, any leader, worker, or public servant has to respect any breathing mortal, whether rich or poor (especially the poor and needy) in any status or color of skin. How could we motivate people and let them love their work and communities? If they find themselves useful, meet their basic needs through jobs (big or small), and some government security for the public, the people will learn to adjust and be contented. After all, the basic need pyramid is what counts. The basic needs will be met with good jobs, good education, and good attitude. Attitude can't be left out, or else the next leaders will be bad examples to their constituents. Generally, we have to work for goals. We don't need to cohabit, to kill or hurt, to steal, or to lie. Perhaps this is ideal, but what is a miracle from God, if all of us would strive to be fair and kind though the troubles of life? Nothing is impossible if you have a pure heart. A pure heart will never strive to hurt even enemies, just to teach and give justice, if necessary. No one will ever regret serving and living with charity. The last time, I went out on the streets, I heard conversations from food vendors in the bus. Vendor 1: Hey, go down the bus, you have to consider I have to get money today. Don't sell here now. Vendor 2: Why would you let me go down, when I am working, as well? What makes me selfish doing my job and selling here? This is a real sad picture of workers. It's like one family fighting for lands. It is like one nation fighting for power or nations fighting for territories. Both parties have their stories to tell. Both are broken. But what is the truth? And what should be right and good for all? Trust the experts (in various jobs big or small) and good leaders. Set heroes and saints as examples. In a way, I could only pray. All of us could pray the most, for the way things are. Dear God, we pray for best and good things to happen to us all in God's light and grace. Amen. Of course, "All things will work out together for good for those who love God and obey his laws." rosalinda flores martinez / revision jan 10, 2013
